About

Thank you for visiting Fairy Godmother Dyeworks.  I’m Meg, the lead Fairy Godmother and the soul behind this business and Twisted Fiber Art.  I’ve spent most of my time since 2005 dyeing, knitting and designing.  Before that some of the many creative, artistic and unusual passions that I engaged in were Pysanka, cat costuming, puppetry and window painting/display.  Today I live in a ramshackle house with a tower and a friendly Ogre named Jeff who paints miniatures and cooks dinner.

Fairy Godmother Dyeworks specializes in the art and process of hand-dyeing gradient yarns we call Evolutions.  Self-Striping sock yarn was my first financial success as an artist.  That’s how my first company, Twisted Fiber Art, became my career.  That business grew to 14 employees and flourished online and at yarn shows across the USA.  Shrinking the business back into the bottle was not possible.  There was no way I could manage and produce the yarn and service we achieved at Twisted.  That brand included many other fine artists and skilled workers and an engaging business cast of characters.  Now it is just one little Fairy Godmother with chronic illness, fatigue and pain which led to disability.  In order to keep the standards high for the quality of the dyeing work, the management side has slowed down to a kind and cozy pace that allows me to do the creative work that feeds my soul and keeps my mental and physical health flowing.   All dates are fluid, everything ships eventually and when it does it will be work that I am proud of.
